Updating the article for the 2020s--i.e. right-wing populism and the 2021–2023 global supply chain crisis
[edit]This article needs to be updated for the 2020s, and I'll be working on it over the next few days. The lead of this article violates NPOV and is out of date, because it doesn't include accounts for historical examples of protectionism both working (i.e. the American System (economic plan)) and failing (i.e. Peronism in Argentina, as seen with the economic history of Argentina).
Two of the oldest right-wing political parties in the world that still exist, the Republican Party (United States) (began in the 1850s) and the Conservative Party (UK) (began in the 1830s) have historically supported protectionism, and the Republican Party currently supports protectionism.
